School of Rock The Musical is set to take the Turner Stage in the Briley Auditorium at Lenoir Community College from July 12 through 14 and July 19 through 21. This musical is based on the Paramount movie written by Mike White with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
This electric show follows the journey of Dewey Finn, a down-on-his-luck musician who poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. With his unconventional teaching methods, he transforms a class of straight-laced students into a rock band, igniting their passion for music and self-expression.
Under the direction of Lenoir Community College’s Fine Arts Chair and Music Instructor Jessica Cruz, this show is one of many that will be a part of the performing arts series at the College.
As the curtain rises on LCC’s production of School of Rock The Musical, audiences can expect an unforgettable experience that will leave them cheering for an encore. With its infectious energy, heartfelt performances, and timeless message, this production is sure to rock the house and have those in the audience tapping their feet and singing along from start to finish.
Cruz is ecstatic to bring this show to Lenoir County and its surrounding areas, saying, “This is the first show we will bring to Turner Stage where five of the actors play instruments live in the show; four of those actors are even children! Everyone is working extremely hard to bring this intense show to life.”
“As with many recent shows, our actors are from multiple counties: Craven, Duplin, Greene, Lenoir, Onslow, and Wayne. We have also partnered with an ECU School of Theatre student to help behind the scenes with the creative team,” she said. “The cast performed selections at our recent Broadway Unleashed event where people were blown away by their talent. We cannot wait for everyone to fill the house and give this cast the rock-star audience they deserve.”
