What is Financial Aid?<\/span><\/h4>\n

Financial aid is money provided by federal, state, and college sources to help students pay their expenses while attending college. Many students find it increasingly difficult to finance a college education without some assistance. In general, all U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens who are enrolled in an approved degree or certificate program are eligible to receive some type of financial assistance.<\/span><\/p>\n

If I receive financial aid now, do I need to pay the money back later?<\/span><\/h4>\n

There are many grant and scholarship programs available that offer \u201cfree money\u201d that does not have to be repaid.<\/span><\/p>\n

The entire financial aid process seems overwhelming and confusing. How can I get financial assistance if I\u2019m not even sure how to apply?<\/span><\/h4>\n

Applying for financial aid can be confusing. At LCC, FASFA Days are offered throughout the year to assist students with the online application process. There is also one-on-one assistance available through the Financial Aid Office located in the Administration Building on the Kinston campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m not sure I qualify for financial aid. Should I complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)?\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

Yes. Many families mistakenly think they don\u2019t qualify for aid. There is no good excuse for not applying. Additionally, there are a few sources of aid, such as state grants, scholarships, and private alternative loans that maybe available.<\/span><\/p>\n
